This past June, Ride for Wishes hosted its 15th annual event to benefit Make-A-Wish® Minnesota.
Ride For Wishes is an annual motorcycle ride and street dance in memory of Chuck Worden. Chuck was a talented musician with a big heart. During his life, Chuck helped raise money for causes that benefitted children while singing with his band, Chain Lightning. When Chuck passed away in 2004, his friends and family were inspired to carry on his tradition of giving by creating Ride For Wishes. Make-A-Wish Minnesota was chosen because it was Chuck’s favorite charity. Today, Ride For Wishes is a committee made up of friends, family, and newcomers, who believe in the Make-A-Wish Minnesota mission.
The partnership with Make-A-Wish Minnesota and Ride For Wishes is valuable on both sides. “Partnering with Make-A-Wish Minnesota has been valuable to Ride For Wishes because we can work together as a team for advertising and resources,” said his daughter Sharon Brandt and Ride For Wishes event organizer. Through the partnership, Ride For Wishes can make every contribution dollar stretch to support the goal of granting wishes to Minnesota children with critical illnesses.
“Through the years, our Ride For Wishes family has grown because of relationships that we have made with many of our wish families. When we help grant wishes, we take a personal interest in the family, and want them to know that we support them.”
Since 2005, Ride For Wishes has built strong connections and feels good about the work they do to help grant wishes. This year’s event raised over $8,000. Over the past 15 years, Ride For Wishes has helped raise over $250,000.
“When we first started Ride for Wishes, I don’t think anyone imagined how much this would become a part of us,” Sharon said.
Wishes aren’t possible without the continuous support of community events like Ride For Wishes. Make-A-Wish Minnesota is grateful to everyone at Ride For Wishes for the partnership and dedicated support these past 15 years! Thank you Ride For Wishes!
