Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community helps make wishes come true.

The month of July brought our largest fundraising event, Wish Ball. This annual event raises critical funds needed to continue granting wishes to children battling critical illnesses in Minnesota. We could not do this without the support of our generous sponsors, and this month we would like to recognize the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) as a premier partner.
Over the past 2 years SMSC has been the presenting sponsor of this signature event, this contribution has been key in helping Make-A-Wish Minnesota raise record setting revenue and for securing additional corporate sponsors for the event.
SMSC prides themselves in the Dakota Value of Sharing which is a strong tradition of helping others, "wo' okiye" (helpfulness) has defined the Dakota people for generations. Honoring that tradition, the SMSC contributes to causes, organizations, and tribes across the region, state, and country. SMSC is the largest philanthropic benefactor for Indian Country nationally, and one of the largest charitable givers in Minnesota.

SMSC has donated more than $350 million to organizations and causes, provided $500 million in economic development loans to other tribes, and contributed millions more to support regional governments and infrastructure. Find out more about their charitable giving in their annual donations report.
Thank you so much to the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community for being a key partner in making wishes come true.
