Thirteen-year-old Cody loves the outdoors. He loves to ride his bike and drive his ATV. But enjoying the outdoors is no longer something he is able to do since his devastating diagnosis of liver disease.
Instead of enjoying the outdoors, Cody has endured numerous medical tests, treatments, hospital stays and a restricted diet. With a failing liver, Cody is on the transplant list waiting for a new liver.Cody’s heartfelt wish is to have a playhouse where he can have his own quiet space to work, study and hang out with his friends.
Cody's Wish Day.
Cody was thrilled when his wish came true last summer. The highlight of his wish was when he got to be part of the construction crew helping volunteers build his playhouse! “My wish means a lot to me. My wish gave me hope and joy and happiness. I’d like people to know that just because you are ill doesn’t mean that you can’t be happy. Dreams do come true because miracles do happen,” Cody said. “I would like to thank everyone in the Foundation for making my wish so memorable and great.”
“As a parent, it means the world to me to see how happy Cody was. He forgot about his medical condition for a little while,” said Sue, Cody’s mom. “Nothing can replace the joy and happiness that it brings to your child’s eyes and seeing how happy they are. Make-A-Wish brings happiness and hope to a child’s life and helps them become stronger,” Sue said. “We just want to say THANK YOU so much!”
Cody’s wish was sponsored by UnitedHealthcare through the Adopt-A-Wish program. Additional in-kind support provided by Mathowitz Construction, WoodManor Playhouses, Diamond Vogel Paints, Pat Hoehn and Matt Hoehn.
