Sam loves snowboarding. Even when her cancer diagnosis often made her feel helpless, the thought of traveling to France to go snowboarding in the French Alps kept Sam’s spirits high.
When Sam’s wish to go snowboarding in France was granted, she was elated. She had a blast exploring the runs and trails amongst the picturesque mountain landscape, and enjoying French cuisine and horse-drawn carriage rides.
As she flew down the mountainside on her skis, Sam left behind the worries of living with a life-threatening medical condition. The joy that Sam's wish brought to the entire family is something her mom will never forget. After months of stress and worry, they were able to spend time together and celebrate Sam’s recovery. “The wish gave her something to look forward to and that is priceless,” said her mom, Sandy.
As for Sam, she will never forget the hope she was given while waiting for her wish to come true. “There is always good to come when something bad is happening,” she said. “After every storm, there’s a rainbow.”
“I am awed by the work of Make-A-Wish and its volunteers on behalf of children and families at the lowest and scariest part of their lives. We can never express how grateful we are,” Sandy said.
