“ Make-A-Wish provides an opportunity for hope, peace and family time. ”

- Michelle, Ella's mom

In early 2015, what first appeared to be abdominal pain was in fact something much more serious for five-year-old Ella.

Although her parents thought she may need an appendectomy, doctors discovered a large tumor in her ovary. Ella was faced with the devastating diagnosis of Burkitt’s lymphoma.

Ella and her family now faced an uncertain future. “I think this ‘unknown’ feeling is very scary,” said Ella’s mom, Michelle. Instead of going to school, Ella endured high-dose chemotherapy treatments; instead of hanging out with her friends, she had a surgery to remove her ovary. She also had to undergo countless scans, lab tests and lumbar punctures.

When Ella learned she would receive a wish, the news lifted her spirits. She spent her time thinking about her one true wish and she knew there was only one place where all her dreams could come true: Walt Disney World® Resort!

Ella had a blast meeting her favorite Disney® characters, exploring the parks and spending time with her family. Her wish gave her the chance to escape her illness and enjoy life as a kid again. She was most thrilled to be a regular kid and not “the cancer kid.”
