As travel costs rise and more children’s wishes involve air travel, the need for donated airline miles is greater than ever. Last year, dozens of Minnesota wish kids with life-threatening medical conditions had the chance to take off to their dream destination thanks to donated airline miles raised through the successful WCCO-TV Wishes in Flight® Airline Miles Drive.
As part of its ACCOMPLISH MN initiative, WCCO-TV inspired its viewers last March to donate more than 18 million miles to help grant travel wishes for more than 65 local kids. Viewers and Make-A-Wish® supporters called and logged on to donate airline miles and points from Delta Airlines, Sun Country® Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways to Make-A-Wish Minnesota. The successful WCCO-TV miles drive exceeded the event goal of 10 million miles, setting a new nationwide record of the most miles raised by a Make-A-Wish chapter in a one-day event.
In addition to the successful miles drive, WCCO-TV also helped raise awareness about the power of wishes through various news stories and projects including building Kaleb’s Sandlot-inspired playhouse last summer.
Make-A-Wish Minnesota is excited to again partner with WCCO-TV this year to help raise airline miles to help grant more wishes through the WCCO-TV Wishes in Flight Airline Miles Drive set for Wednesday, February 25.
Be sure to tune in to WCCO-TV in the next few weeks for exciting details and inspiring wish stories.
