In 1990, eight-year-old Justin’s wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort came true. Shortly after his wish was granted, Justin lost his battle with cancer. The next year, the Justin Clark Memorial was established and the Just Cause Charity Golf Classic followed.
The tournament’s organizers – Dick Lewis and Brett Martinson – eventually decided to donate the day’s proceeds to Make-A-Wish® Minnesota, and help wishes come true for other local kids with critical illnesses.
“Originally, we just wanted to get a group of people to play golf and have our own little tournament,” Dick said. “Then you start to think about how lucky we are and the people who are facing real life-altering struggles. I love the idea: to give a family a break from whatever they’re dealing with. A chance to make their lives easier.”
Since 2013 the Just Cause Charity Golf Classic has raised nearly $60,000 to make local wishes come true.
“At the end of the day someone has to do it,” Dick said. “Someone needs to pitch in and try to make a difference.”
Wishes aren’t possible without the help of events like the Just Cause Charity Golf Classic. THANK YOU to Dick, Brett and all the amazing people who get together annually to grant the wishes of Minnesota kids! Click here to register for, and learn more about, this year’s tournament.
