Bob and Celeste Rekieta have always supported organizations that work with children. After discovering Make-A-Wish Minnesota in 2009, they dedicated themselves to help bring life-changing experiences to Minnesota kids with critical illnesses.
“[The wish kid’s] strength and positivity in the face of such adversity is amazing,” Bob said. “The stories of their courage are an inspiration, and anything we can do to provide that respite is a small token compared to their continual struggles.”
Since 2009, the Rekietas have been regular sponsors of the annual Wish Ball gala. Every year, they invite family and friends to join them for an evening of socializing, great dining, games, intriguing auction items to bid on, and a program detailing some of the joy Minnesota wish kids and their families have experienced. Bob and Celeste were especially delighted last year to have been the high bidder of a sculpture created by a wish kid, that is now proudly displayed in their home.
They have also introduced Celeste’s Family Foundation – the Louis and Peaches Owen Family Foundation – to the mission of Make-A-Wish® Minnesota, resulting in the Foundation becoming a big supporter of Make-A-Wish Minnesota’s operating needs.
