There’s nothing more inspiring than kids helping other kids. Through the Kids For Wish Kids program, kids have the opportunity to help raise funds to grant wishes. Managed by kids for kids, kids do it all – from brainstorming fundraising ideas and developing a plan of action, to seeing their idea come to life. Teachers and parents often serve as advisors, but ownership of the project belongs solely to the kids involved.
That’s exactly what a 6th grader from Edina did. Inspired by the Make-A-Wish mission and his mom’s volunteer work with Make-A-Wish® Minnesota, Caden Fritz wanted to raise money to help grant wishes for Minnesota kids. He came up with the idea of a carnival for a cause where his neighbors and friends could play games, win prizes and raise money for Make-A-Wish Minnesota.
To get his project started, Caden applied for a grant through Thrivent Financial’s Action Team program. The grant, available to Thrivent members, provided promotional materials and seed money to help Caden build and promote his event.
Caden rallied community businesses and a team of neighborhood volunteers to host his first carnival benefitting Make-A-Wish Minnesota. Area businesses donated prizes. Caden organized a team of family, friends and neighbors to help run the 15 carnival games.
This past fall, Caden’s hard work paid off when his carnival for a cause became a reality. Tons of people came out to support Caden and Make-A-Wish Minnesota helping raise more than $1,300 to help grant wishes for Minnesota kids.
A huge thank you to Caden, his family and Thrivent Financial’s Action Team grant for bringing a team together to make an impact! To learn how you can help us grant more wishes by organizing a Kids For Wish Kids fundraiser in your community, please contact Stephanie Davis at email@example.com.
